This week in parenting 10/9/16

Children who had severe cavities at the age of 6 were found to have a poorer oral health related quality of life at the age of 10.

Maternal sensitivity was found to help prevent preterm children from developing depressive and anxiety symptoms.

Caffeine consumption, sharing a room and screens in the bedroom were all found to be associated with poorer sleep in 6 to 8 year old children.

Higher relationship happiness, more confidence as a parent, more community engagement and higher social support were all found to be linked to a lower risk of development delay in children at one year of age.

Children who had insecure attachment as infants and then went on to be more rejecting of parent's rules and modelling were found to have worse developmental outcomes than children who were rejecting of parent's rules and modelling but did not have an insecure attachment.
