Exposure to discrimination was found to negatively impact on parental monitoring with an associated negative impact on academic performance in racial/ethnic minority teenagers.

Mothers who have shyness-anxiety were found to be more likely to be overprotective parents and less likely to engage in supportive parenting.

Teenagers whose parents were separated were found to be more likely to have a stronger purpose in life, higher hope for the future and higher self esteem than teenagers whose parents were married.

Children of caregivers who are warm but restrictive were found to tend to play less violent videogames, while children of caregivers who are anxiously over-involved tend to play more.
